Many bright latest programs of Vladimir Fedoseyev are related to a cantata and oratorical genre. Conducting the Tchaikovsky Symphony Orchestra Maestro performed such greatest compositions as “L’Enfance du Christ” of Berlioz, Missa Solemnis of Beethoven, “Matthew’s passions” and Christmas oratorio of Bishop Illarion (Alfeev).
Among a great number of Mendelssohn’s choral works oratorios “St.Paul” and “Ilijah” stand out. Oratorio “St.Paul”, written after composer’s trip to Leipzig, tells about spiritual formation of one of the first orthodox preacher. Being a conductor of Gewandhaus orchestra the German Master applied a lot of efforts to attract public’s attention to large-scale masterpieces of Bach, Handel, Haydn and Beethoven. “St. Paul” is widely performed in Germany, however in Russia its performing destiny didn’t succeed. It hasn’t sounded in Moscow since many years. For this Moscow performance the best artists are invited: the Tchaikovsky Symphony Orchestra, the Bolshoi Theatre Choir and international soloists – Nicholas Courjal, Lisa Milne, Maria Riccarda Wesseling, Steve Davislim.
The concert is held within the framework of the subscription “Great oratorios” of the Moscow State Philharmonic Society.
